Loom

Design_Studio Irvine

Memories, knitting, trousseau.

“… so I finally opened my wardrobes and the Loom for Mosaico+ collection emerged, an industrial product made from cuttings from my trousseau: enlarged or shrunk and assembled and embossed on full-body porcelain stoneware, with a herringbone cut.
Loom is a random assembly of memories and tradition. Dedicated to the women of my family.

Cut-up

Design_CARDO + Massimo Nadalini

“As in the literary cut-up technique, we started from the finished work – that is, the original plates made by CARDO with Marianna Costi, in which different portions of matter and juxtaposed textures coexist.
We dissected the slabs into portions that incorporated only small details of the finished work, and then generated modules with a selection of these fragments.
Those who install the material are unconsciously writing a new story, generated by the random composition of the modules.

P-saico

Design_Studio Irvine

”P-saico is a fresh mosaic concept in which only the rectangular chip shape is uniform, while the overall look of the installation is irregular. The initial inspiration was Opus Incertum, with its regular randomness generated by the combination of installation and surface”.

Mist

Design_Kensaku Oshiro

“Thanks to the different joint sizes, two orders of elements – one horizontal and the other vertical – are visually overlapped on two levels; which one the eye perceives will depend on the viewpoint”.

Sticks

Design_Massimo Nadalini

“Sticks is a system of modules of matter where finishes and cut shapes multiply potential uses on floors, pavings and walls. I worked by subtraction, seeking simple changes which would modify the perception of the entire finished surface”.

Quilt

Design_Studio Irvine

“The collection takes inspiration from the old patchwork quilt. The joint, as a seam, keeps the small tiles tied each other either with a regular or random effect.
